Shawn Levy has some serious ambitions for the upcoming big-screen version of the fan-favourite Uncharted series.

Nerdist recently interviewed Levy about Stranger Things – on which he serves as executive producer and occasional director – but took the opportunity to talk a little bit about the Uncharted movie, which still has no release date but recently signed Tom Holland to star as series protagonist Nathan Drake.

Levy made it clear that he isn’t interested in simply doing a straight-up adaptation of the games – citing his experience of “bad” or simply “decent but unsuccessful” video game adaptations – and says that he and Tom Holland are both approaching the film from the same angle.
