Remedy Games—the studio behind Max Payne and Alan Wake—is expanding into cooperative multiplayer gaming.

Two games are currently being worked on at Remedy; one is Crossfire 2’s story mode in collaboration with Smilegate and the other is currently unannounced. Remedy did not outline exactly where multiplayer fits into these projects.

This process includes working on Northlight, Remedy’s “proprietary game engine and tools.” Remedy will be building Northlight as a way to expand the studio’s storytelling abilities across shared experiences. “We believe that a multiplayer experience combined with Remedy’s unique world-building provides an exceptional environment for that,” game director Mikael Kasurinen and creative director Sam Lake said.
