Frequently Asked Questions and Troubleshooting Tips

What is the 8 GB hard drive for?

8 GB hard drive that came with the system is to be stored in a safe place.  We will only need this if your system ever crashes or is broken.  In order to recover the machine, we will need this hard drive.  Each hard drive is tied to each system’s motherboard so they are not interchangeable.

How do you quit a game from an emulator?

Since each emulator is different, you have to play around with it to see how you quit each game.  There are couple of button combination that will quit the game and go to the main menu:

  • Press the BLACK and WHITE buttons simultaneously
  • Press the START and SELECT buttons simultaneously

Once you are in the main emulator menu, there is usually a menu item that allows to go back to the console main menu.

Should I mess around with files on the Original XBOX hard drive?

The general answer is NO.   If you know what you are doing, you can try to play around different files.  The system can be broken easily if you don’t know what you are doing.  It is important not messing around with different files and make changes unless you know exactly what you are doing.

What do I do if my system is broken?

  3. We will send you instructions on how to send your console in for repair.  In most case, you will just send the console in by itself.
  4. Depends on the problem, we will repair it as soon as possible.  In some worst cases, we can replace the broken system with a new reconditioned one.

Please contact us if you have any other questions.

How many hard drives come with the original XBOX system?

The modded XBOX gaming console comes with 2 hard drives:

  1. Main hard drive – that’s where all the games and classic console emulators are installed.
  2. 8 GB original hard drive – this is to be kept in a safe place.  If your XBOX ever crash or is broken, you need to send us this hard drive for repair/recovery.
How do I add games to the original XBOX system?

First, make sure you have enough disk space to add a game.  If there is not enough disk space, you can either get more space by deleting some games or emulator or by upgrading to a bigger hard drive.  You can contact us if you want to exchange your system to a bigger hard drive.

You can transfer your original XBOX games to the internal hard drive  as backup by doing the following:

  1. Go to Apps
  2. Select XBOX2DVD app
  3. Put in the original XBOX game
  4. Select where you want to save the XBOX game.  In our system, it will be on F:\Games\
  5. Press start and it should transfer.  Once it is done, it will tell you.

Is it normal for some emulator games to run choppy?

Emulators are home brew.  Most of them are hit and miss.  Some will require different configurations to run properly, which requires some experimenting from game to game.  The Coin Ops series — currently at Coins Ops 7 — is probably the most stable XBOX emulator around.  Most of the games have been tested and it has some of the best games from multiple classic consoles.  Here are a list of games from different consoles that are on Coin Ops 7:

You can check out the tweaks on Nintendo 64 emulator on this page to make some games work.

How come LEDs on the front of my XBOX have different colors?

LED colors on the front of modded XBOX can be customized to different colors.  In most cases, if the system can boot up to the Unleashed X menu, there is nothing wrong with the system.  You can actually change the colors of LEDs on the front of the XBOX if you want to using one of the programs in the application menu.  It is not recommended you mess with this unless you know what you are doing.
